SECOND SEASON FILMING EXPECTED TO BEGIN EARLY JULY

ANNOUNCEMENT COULD BE MADE TOMORROW NIGHT


 

CBS hit series Hawaii Five-0 wraps its 24th episode Oiaio – which means truth – on Thursday at Aliiolani Hale on King Street…Although no official announcement about the show’s return for season two has been made by the network, that could happen tomorrow night at a special, private event at the MorimotoWaikiki restaurant at the Waikiki Edition hotel…Chef Morimoto, who appears in the episode that airs tomorrow at 9 p.m. as himself, is hosting the 8:30 p.m. reception for the show’s cast and executives…Another guarantee that Five-0 is returning is that headquarter’s set at Aliiolani Hale will be set up at the Advertiser stage…

 

An explosion scene done at Sand Island on Saturday is another highlight of Oiaia….

 

Preproduction for Five-0′s second season will begin in June with filming in early July…According to CBS, the production has spend more than $40 million on Oahu for season one…

 

The Five-0 wrap party is being held from 5-9 p.m. today at Jimmy Buffett’s at the Beachcomber’ Waikiki restaurant…

 

 

 

 

 

There are some major surprises in this last episode involving all key cast members, including Scott Caan’s (above at Laniakea) character and his on screen ex wife…There’s also a chicken skin scene between Daniel Dae Kim‘s character (below) Chin Ho Kelly and Sgt. In a major surprise in box office grosses this weekend is the Bethany Hamilton biopicSoul Surfer doing far better than expected….The Hawaii-based bio-pic grossed about an $11.1 million from 2,214 locations to come in fourth place, thanks to teen girls and their moms, as well as faith-based audiences…The film cost about $18 million to produce…

 

Soul Surfer, which was years in development, is distributed by Sony’s TriStar and marketed by FilmDistrict…According to CinemaScore, 56 percent of the audience was under the age of 25 — a demo that’s been missing from theaters — while 80 percent of those buying tickets were female…“There’s a lot of love for this film,” Sony president of distribution Rory Bruer said.
