The You May Not Kiss the Bride feature film by Hawaii Film Partners has been a boom for local SAG actors with 13 hired for speaking roles in the romantic comedy including  singer Willie K as a Tahitian chief. Veteran actor and stand-in Wayne Geiger who was a fixture on Lost before being killed as one of The Others serves as stand in for several actors on Bride. Some 35 actors of Polynesian descent served as background as Tahitian villagers for filming Thursday at the Kualoa fishponds…

Next week’s final filming is in jungles on windward Oahu, including the fishponds at Kualoa, and deep in Kualoa and Kaaawa valleys. The production is expected to wrap on Saturday…The cast and crew wrap party was held last night at Oceans 808 in Restaurant Row which served as Club Zagreb in the movie where a wedding reception was filmed with co star Katharine McPhee as the bride. post_image-29494pcn_mcphee00wtmk-copyHawaii doubles for Chicago and Tahiti…

Soul Surfer is ramping up for its summer filming. The only thing slowing the production down is finalizing contracts with actors they want in the film. Producers also are deciding  whether to start pre production in July for an August start date or in August for a September start…The contingent of Soul Surfer producers and other executives who met at the Turtle Bay Resort – which will serve as production base for the film, left Wednesday. They included Soul Surfer producer/director Sean McNamara and his partner co producer David Brookwell,  Baywatch co creator and executive producer Douglas Schwartz, and creative producer Dutch Hofstetter.  The group also scouted possible locations since most of the filming will be on Oahu although the shark attack on Bethany Hamilton took olace on Kauai where the surfer and her family live…

Schwartz (below left) is no stranger to Hawaii having co produced Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding here in 2003 and Baywatch: Forbidden Paradise in 1995
