NBC’s MAMMA’S BOYS OFF HAWAII RADAR; MARIAH VID DEBUTS

NBC’s previously announced reality series  Momma’s Boy to be produced by American Idol host Ryan Seacrest appears to have fallen off the radar at least as Hawaii is concerned. County film commissioners haven’t heard anything from the production team for weeks. According to two Hawaii sources, the production was pretty much seeking a total comp package for accommodations and no location fees. “Not at my resort,” one hotel executive told RH. The series was to follow the mothers and their sons as they are housed together with several potential brides — some of whom are “nice girls” and others who might not meet mom’s high standards…

Mariah Carey‘s Hawaii music video that was filmed at Sea Life Park and at a Portlock cliffside home is on the internet. The video features underwater shots showing the bikini-clad Carey swimming with dolphins from above and below the water. All the water shots are by Hawaii videographer Don King. At the Portlock location, Carey and friends are shot dancing. Carey also spends a lot of time rubbing her body and hair, and smiling at the camera. Angie Laprete did all the prepping for the video. There are more than 150 scene changes in the 3 minute, 23 second video for her single Loving you Long Time. The opening shot is from underwater with Carey riding the dolphin while grasping its dorsal fin. Check out the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShUaTX-1-Fk …

Halle Berry finished her fragrant commercial last night at a beach adjacent to the Ko Olina Resort & Spa. The two-day still and video shoot was also shot on the North Shore. Wednesday’s filming started at 8 a.m. and finished about 8:30 p.m. Berry, boyfriend  Aubrey Gabriel, their three-month-old daughter, and nanny left this morning for L.A. With a possible Screen Actor’s Guild strike still a possibility, Hawaii has nothing on its production plate at least in the near future. Networks and studios aren’t likely to commit to filming not knowing if actors will be available. The future isn’t totally bleak. ABC’s Lost is still slated to begin pre production in late July with filming starting in mid August. On the Big Island, Wheel of Fortune also will begin pre production in August with filming in September at the Hilton Waikoloa…According to state film commissioner Donne Dawson the writers strike cost Hawaii about three months in Hawaii production including two months this year. Preliminary production revenue estimates so far are about $20 million less for the same period last year. With Hawaii’s economy in a diminishing state, budgets for commissioners to make promotional production trips outside of Hawaii seem to be in jeopardy. That’s a shame since this is when the state needs the publicity the most…
