Into the Blue 2 Hits Makaha; The Informant A Hit With Fans

UPDATE: The hidden treasure adventure Into the Blue 2 started today to shoot boat and water scenes on Oahu’s West side off Makaha Beach. Underwater scenes – including some night dives – featuring the actors will be in about 33 feet of water. Veteran water photographer Don King will do the underwater filming. Second unit director Brian Keaulana and the producers selected the Makaha area because of the clear water and usually favorable weather. “Brian is the best of the best when it comes to water work in Hawaii,” said executive producer Hudson Hickman. “We would have been nuts not to take his expert advice.” Second unit first assistant director is Matt Locey. Cast and crew this morning boarded several boats at the Waianae Small Boat Harbor for the short cruise to Makaha. One of the main supplies on the boats is sunscreen…Producers praised Hawaii crew as “as talented and professional” as any we’ve worked with.” There only gripe: Not enough of them. “Hawaii needs something like a work task force training new talent to have them work alongside a veteran crew member to learn on the job,” Hickman said. These sort of “interns” on the task force used around the country are paid by the state, or city and counties, Hickman said. It’s a plus for the state and a financial incentive for the production, he added….Other local crew on …Blue 2 are “B” camera second assistant Jai Mansson, key grip Michael Schwake, hair stylist Debra Rego, sound mixer John Reynolds; sound utility Dan Garab, and boom operator Rich Linke
